Now that our Faculty/Student Art Show is closed, the MVCA is looking forward to hosting the Herkimer County Art Teachers (Art Circles) annual show as a way to kick off Youth Art Month. Youth Art Month is an annual observance emphasizing the value of Art Education for all children and to encourage support for quality School Art Programs.

This year’s Art Circles Reflections show will open on Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, with a reception at the MVCA 401 Gallery from 5:30 – 6:30 PM and will run through March 3, 2020.  (Snow Date for the Opening Reception is Monday, Feb. 10, 2020, again 5:30 – 6:30 PM.)

This show is very special to the educators, their students, their school districts, and their communities including the Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts, as it is a unique display of artwork by BOTH the students AND their teachers.  As Heather McCutheon, one of the teachers organizing this year’s exhibit, says “This show is a celebration of how students and teachers reflect off of each other for creativity and inspiration.”

The school districts participating in this year’s show are Central Valley, Dolgeville, Frankfort, Herkimer, Herkimer BOCES, Little Falls, and, Richfield Springs.

The Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts’ winter hours are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from noon until 4 pm. For more information, you can visit http://www.mohawkvalleyarts.org/
