LITTLE FALLS, NY – The historic city of Little Falls came alive last night as the 38th Annual Canal Celebration kicked off in grand style at Rotary Park, drawing crowds of families, locals, and visitors eager to embrace the community’s vibrant spirit along the Erie Canal. What started as a sunny day of anticipation exploded into an evening of non-stop excitement, blending classic small-town charm with fresh, affordable thrills that had everyone buzzing.

From the moment the gates opened, the air was filled with laughter and cheers as kids dashed into action. Youngsters lined up for Rotary’s famous Duck Dash race, watching their colorful rubber ducks bob and weave down the ramp in a hilarious bid for victory. Nearby, an inflatable obstacle course and rock climbing wall turned the park into a playground paradise, with free old-fashioned games keeping the energy high for all ages. “It was pure joy seeing the kids’ faces light up – this is what community events are all about,” said one attendee, capturing the heartwarming vibe that defines the celebration.

As the sun dipped lower, live music from The Valley Rockers set the perfect soundtrack, their upbeat tunes echoing across the water and getting toes tapping. Foodies rejoiced over budget-friendly bites, including $1 hot dogs that flew off the grills and a mouthwatering pulled pork barbecue hosted by Holy Family Parish. For the adventurous, kayaking on the Erie Canal offered a unique twist – paddlers glided under the twilight sky, lights in hand, adding a serene yet exhilarating element to the festivities.

The night culminated in a phenomenal fireworks display that painted the sky in brilliant bursts of color, leaving spectators in awe as explosions reflected off the canal waters. “It was the perfect end to an unforgettable opening – affordable, fun, and full of that Little Falls magic,” shared event organizers, emphasizing the focus on free family activities and community accessibility.
