LITTLE FALLS, NY – The Amsterdam Mohawks picked up their second win of the season on Friday night, knocking off the Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs, 10-3.
Jayden Harriel (Florida Atlantic) got the scoring started in the second, cracking an RBI single to right field to score Chris Hoalcraft (St. Bonaventure). Bray Touchston (Gulf Coast CC) scored on the next batter, getting home on a fielder’s choice by Wes Walker (North Alabama).
A walk with the bases loaded by Cai Chang En (Fulton-Montgomery CC) brought home Ian Oehlschlaeger (RPI).
Sebastian Harden (Prairie View A&M) brought the Amsterdam lead back to two in the third on a tough throw to third base. The lead increased to three in the fourth, thanks to an RBI single by Alex Junghans (Wake Forest), scoring Harriel.
Amsterdam scored aother in the fifth on an RBI single from Jake Long (Utah). They’d add still another on an RBI single in by Luke Filippi (SUNY Albany).
The Mohawks added another four in the ninth, which was just enough to force a bases-loaded rally in the ninth to fizzle out with just two runs.
En got the win for Amsterdam (2-0). Jack Montanye (SUNY Poly) got the loss for Mohawk Valley (0-2).
Mohawk Valley is on the road for their next two games, beginning on Saturday in Boonville for the Lumberjacks’ season opener.
