LITTLE FALLS, NY – The Amsterdam Mohawks kept the Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs scoreless through seven innings on Saturday night en route to a 5-1 win at Veteran’s Memorial Park.

The first run of the game came in the third on a ball off the Mohawk Valley first baseman’s glove. That run would bring home Will Cowan (St. John’s). Danny Perez (Stetson) added two more in the very next inning on a wind-aided home run to center field. The two-run shot also scored Bray Touchstone (Gulf Coast CC).

Touchstone added an RBI of his own in the fifth, with a sharply hit ball down the third base line, scoring Jon Young (Alabama).

Mohawk Valley finally got on the scoreboard in the seventh, as back to back doubles by John Ramsey (Trinity College) and Kaden Hart (Virginia Tech) scored Hart.

The Mohawks (16-6) got another on an error in the ninth, and that would be all reliever Derek Duval (Charleston) would need, going two scoreless innings to put the game away.

Jack Chavez (Villanova) got the loss for Mohawk Valley (12-7).

The Diamond Dawgs are back in action on Sunday, hosting a non-traditional doubleheader with the Saugerties Stallions. Game One will start at 5 pm, with the game in the bottom of the ninth and the Stallions leading 3-2.
