LITTLE FALLS, NY – The City of Little Falls has partnered with Koester Associates to install a mobile water treatment system designed to add one million gallons of treated water per day to the city’s capacity, addressing high summer demand. The project, described as a “turnkey solution,” is expected to be operational by mid-August.

Rob Samuels, field operations manager for Koester Associates, explained the urgency of the project: “They came to us looking for a solution to get Little Falls an extra million gallons a day, especially for the summer, for high water demand. And we had a couple of months to do it.”

The system includes a membrane trailer, which produces the additional water, and a neutralization trailer to manage the cleaning cycle discharge. “This membrane trailer will actually produce the one million gallons a day,” Samuels said. “But as it goes through its cleaning cycle, it has to be neutralized, so we’re setting up a neutralization trailer just behind it.”

Koester Associates, based in Canastota, NY, is providing not only the equipment but also installation and startup services, collaborating with subcontractors like JM Construction and HCI Electrical. Samuels highlighted the company’s comprehensive role: “We were able to offer a turnkey solution, which is this membrane trailer, neutralization trailer, all the electrical, and they’re getting a backup generator.”

The mobile system is expected to serve Little Falls for 18 to 24 months while long-term water infrastructure plans are developed. Samuels noted the project’s timeline: “Mid-August, we will be starting this up.”

This phase of the initiative is part of a long-term plan to increase the City’s capability to deliver rapid, effective water treatment solutions, ensuring Little Falls meets its water needs during peak seasons and beyond.
