LITTLE FALLS, NY — The Little Falls Common Council tackled a robust agenda during its regular session on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 7:00 PM in the Common Council Chambers.

Mayor Deborah Kaufman led the meeting, with City Clerk Kira Miller recording and all council members— Aldermen Tim Lyon, Jonathan Shaffer, Todd Dillon, Michael Masi, Mark Ruffing, Craig Lockwood, Dan Carter, and Alderwoman Laura Eysaman—in attendance.

The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and public comments and the mayor praised the Rotary volunteers’ efforts to maintain Main Street’s flower baskets.

The council unanimously approved minutes from May 6 and 20, 2025, May’s bills, and monthly reports from the City Clerk, Treasurer, and Court Clerk.

Three local laws sparked discussion. Local Law #5, setting a uniform fee schedule for the Codes Department. Local Law #6, raising water and sewer rates, and Local Law #7, proposing a referendum to appoint rather than elect the City Treasurer.

Resolutions moved swiftly. Resolutions #50 and #51 greenlit bonding and environmental reviews for the Burwell Street/Smith Creek culvert reconstruction, addressing critical infrastructure needs. Resolution #52 funded road resurfacing, and Resolution #53 authorized vehicle and equipment purchases, both passing with broad support.

Resolution #54, launching planning for a new bulk storage facility, was approved. Resolution #55 updated a prior deficit financing measure to align with state bills S7128-A and A7902-A, passing unanimously. Resolution #56, allowing Rotary volunteers to use the DPW water truck for floral maintenance, was approved as well.

The City Engineer highlighted ongoing infrastructure work, and Mayor Kaufman closed with her comments about the City’s finances and ongoing projects.
