Little Falls Mounties Boys Soccer Loses In Overtime to Solvay

LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. — The Little Falls Mounties Varsity Boys Soccer dropped a 3-2 decision in overtime to the Solvay Bearcats at Little Falls High School on Saturday afternoon.

Neither team scored in the first half as goalkeepers Jason Grabinski (Little Falls) and Santiago Hernandez Suarez (Solvay) kept the offenses at bay. Business would pick up in the second half, as the hometown Mounties got on the scoreboard just two and a half minutes in. A shot from Brodie Greiner rang off the left post, but Will Rogers was right there to put the rebound into the top of the net to give Little Falls a 1-0 lead.

Solvay answered back minutes later as Ali Karim got in on a partial breakaway and slid a shot past a charging Grabinski to tie the game at one. The Mounties took the lead back with 12:49 remaining in the half as Adam Vadney fired a shot from the left side past goalkeeper Alex Grant (who replaced Hernandez Suarez in the second half) for his 36th career goal to put the home team back on top.

As time ticked away in the second half, the Bearcats got a much-needed goal with 5:16 remaining. Justin Zimmerman ripped a rocket of a shot from the right side into the top left corner of the net to tie the game at two and eventually send the game to overtime.

At 6:49 into the first sudden-death overtime, Karim came through again for the Bearcats. On a two-on-none, the senior forward netted his second goal of the game and ninth of the season when he beat Grabinski to the right side to end the game with a 3-2 Solvay victory.
