The Herkimer County Hunger Coalition Director, Kira Miller, recently presented Mike Bulger with a Certificate of Appreciation for donating 40 brand new winter coats to the Benton Hall Chapter of the Gram Lorraine Children’s Christmas Program.

Benton Hall principal Joe Long was thrilled by the donation as he indicated there was definitely a need for the coats.

Coalition Director RJ Lenarcic announced at the occasion that the Lenny the Leprechaun March Food Drive honoring Fallen Star and Medal of Honor recipient (posthumously) Lt. “Irish” Michael Murphy (Navy Seal) would be held from March 13-17 at Benton Hall. Participating will be grades 2-5, with each being assigned a food to bring in (e.g., pork and beans).

Each participating classroom will receive a Certificate of Appreciation.

Lenarcic indicated that other schools were invited to participate in the drive but never responded. He stated, “It’s a great opportunity for children to get involved in a project benefitting the community. Planting a seed now can have a significant impact down the road insofar as community involvement is concerned.”

Finally, Benton Hall third and fourth graders will be participating in the Coalition’s annual Raymee the Leprechaun Coloring Contest and were given respectively Liam Dougherty-The Littlest Leprechaun and Denny O’Toole and the Leprechauns children’s stories.

Kay Lenarcic, Coalition Director, commented, “We can’t thank enough Dave Warner and mylittlefalls.com for the incredible coverage of our recent activities-coverage vital if these projects are to succeed.”
