The Village of Ilion was notified this afternoon (July 3, 2025) that we submitted a successful grant application for “1EEP Replacement of Overhead Conductors” in the amount of $1.566.524.00 for upgrades on the infrastructure and conductors in the W. Clark St. and Pleasant Ave. substations. These upgrades are critical for the continuous and safe operations of the Village Electrical System and will also be a crucial part of the continuous discussions with Turin Management regarding the former Remington Complex power request.

The award comes from Grid Resilience State and Tribal Formula Grant Implementation Funding, through NYSERDA. and is a matching grant. The Federal portion is for $1,174,893.00 and the Village match will be $391,631.00. The village portion will be paid by the depreciation fund in the electric utility, with no cost to the ratepayers.

Thank you for the hard work from Village Treasurer/Administrative Assistant MariJo Rice and the members of the Ilion Electric Department staff, who were all crucial with the successful application process.

This is more continued and forward progress for the Village tax and ratepayers with bringing our systems and infrastructure into the 21st Century!

On behalf of the entire Village of Ilion Board of Trustees, John P.. Stephens, Mayor/Public Safety Commissioner, Village of Ilion.
