The Ladies’ Tea held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church was well attended on Saturday, June 10th. From the kitchen help to the waiters to those who planned it, decorated for it, to those who attended, it was a very special celebration! Those attending really embraced the idea and dressed up for the occasion. The photos give a glimpse of some of this delightful event.

Roland Randall, from the former Portobello Inn, catered and outdid himself with mouthwatering morsels. He also introduced each course to tell us about the food being served and the history of why it was being served. We even had petit crustless sandwiches with Coronation Chicken, which was served at Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation, and which she enjoyed for years when having tea.

Assisting in the kitchen were Michael Collins and Dominick Scarano. Lorna Zelman assisted and also added to the menu with delicious desserts: “chocolate pots,” mini cheesecakes, and cookies in the shape of teapots. Lorna also provided the favors, honey pots filled with delicious honey from the Zellman’s beehives!

Our ladies were served by gentlemen from the church. Waiters were: Adam Jodway, Dominick Scarano, David Teall, Jud Pannaci, Hank Crofoot, and Father Jack Whritenour. All were very gracious and did a superb job!

Lorna Zellman and Shelley Quinn-Scarano teamed up once again to decorate for the event. To quote Nan Ressue, who originated and planned this event, “They went above and beyond” to provide just the right ambiance for such a special event.

Joyce Whitcomb was Mistress of Ceremony and did a lovely job. She presented some tidbits of history along with introducing the musicians and caterer. The musicians, Martha Regelmann and Helen Maksymicz, provided piano duets and encouraged attendees to join them in singing a bit.

Nan Ressue was our lady of the day and honored with a corsage and given the number 1 table in the center. She certainly deserved to be honored. Many thanks go out to her and all who helped make this event another joyous celebration of Emmanuel’s 200th Anniversary!
