A group of Little Falls Middle School students made signs in their technology courses to replace the old signs at Veterans Memorial Park.

Wayne Rogers, Lauren Baylor, and Adrienne Watson collaborated on the project.

Baylor said that she had seen the class building the new shot put areas and asked them if they’d be interested in creating the new signs for the entrance.

Rogers said Bart Tooley had already approached him about replacing the small ones. “I had three eighth-grade classes, and each class took a sign and built it.”

“The eighth-graders learned how to use what is called a cricket machine that creates stencils for the letters,” stated Baylor.

“The is the first collaborative middle school/high school project we’ve done,” Rogers said. “We’re really just starting to explode with projects like this.”

Baylor said, “My kids painted flower box planters at Moreland Park by the restrooms, and there’s a tiny sign that says ‘Moreland Park. ‘ The letters are about two inches long, and I thought that maybe we could create another Adirondack-style sign to replace it next year.”

Rogers said, “We like doing this – giving back to the community. Kids can say, ‘We made that.'”
