Patrick P. Cook

Patrick P. Cook, 53, of Middleville, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, New York.

He was born on September 27, 1970, in Herkimer, New York, and is the son of Susan M. (Shibley) Cook Hicks and the late Phillip R. Cook. Patrick was educated at Mohawk Central School and graduated with the Class of 1989. Shortly after graduation, Patrick enlisted in the United States Army Reserves.

On August 5, 1995, Patrick was united in marriage to Michelle Johnston in West Winfield, New York.

Patrick was formerly employed as a commercial truck driver for BTA Trucking in Fonda, New York for over 20 years until his retirement in 2022.

He was a member of the Columbia Center Methodist Church. Patrick enjoyed fishing, camping, the New York Giants, horse races, NASCAR, and dirt racing. His most precious time was spent in the company of his family, especially his granddaughter, Heather.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Michelle Johnston Cook of New Hartford, NY; his mother, Susan M. (Shibley) Cook Hicks and her husband, Larry Hicks of Fonda, NY; his children, Nicholas Cook and his fiancé, Cerina Spofford, Emily Cook and her companion, Rudy Schneider, and Lucas Cook, all of Middleville, New York; siblings, Shelly Walther and her husband Chris of Sprakers, NY; Chris Cook of Richfield Springs, NY and Kim Hicks of Fonda, New York; a father-in-law, Roger Johnston and his wife Lenora Johnston of Newport, NY; an uncle, Stephen Shibley of Fort Plain, NY; and several nieces, nephews and many cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, Phillip Cook, paternal grandparents, Milton and Garnet Cook; his maternal grandparents, Howard and Laura Shibley; his mother-in-law, Nancy Johnston; and many cousins, aunts and uncles and their spouses.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 1 p.m. at 68 S. Main St., Middleville, New York. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held at the family home at 62 S. Main St., Middleville, New York. All are welcome to attend.
