SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Little Falls senior wrestler Brynn Shepardson has put together an outstanding career in her time as a Mountie. After her dominating performance at the Section III Girls Wrestling Championship on Sunday at Onondaga Community College, that career will continue for a few more weeks.

Shepardson won the 185-pound weight to lock up her spot in the NYSPHSAA Girls Wrestling Championship (state championship). It will take place on Thursday, February 27 at the MVP Arena in Albany. The state champions of each weight class will be crowned at this tournament.

Only the champions of each weight class on Sunday advanced to the state championship.

To win the title on Sunday, Shepardson won three matches. In the quarterfinals, she pinned Zoe Patton of CNS at the 1:29 mark. Next, she took down Treasure Pringle of Syracuse in the semifinals by a 12-0 technical fall. In the championship, Sheaprdson pinned Marissa Crofoot of Fulton at the 1:38 mark.

She captured the 152-pound weight class crown at the NYSPHSAA Girls Wrestling Championships last season. This season, Shepardson also won the Eastern States title in the 185-pound weight class.

Shepardson has compiled a 25-12 record this season while wrestling on both the boys and girls teams.

Daphnee Howe of Dolgeville and Lillian Hunt of Little Falls also placed at Sunday’s Section III Girls Championship. Howe was fifth in the 114-pound weight class, while Hunt was sixth in the 138-pound weight class. While both had impressive showings, they will not advance to the state championship.

As a team, Little Falls had 43.5 points on Sunday, while Dolgeville had 17.0.
