I’d like to thank the readers who donated to the Avon Veterans’ Afghan Translator Project.
To date, over $20,000 has been raised to ensure that an Afghan translator and his family relocated to Avon will have a place to live, help in adjusting to a new culture, and provide educational opportunities for the entire family.
In a recent article (Our Turn), you made my words prophetic, given their sacrifices for our troops. It was our turn to serve them.
Finally, I’d like to thank the Avon vets and my daughter, Carrie Firestone, for their willingness to sponsor an Afghan family.
