ILION, N.Y. — It’s six weeks into summer and the Arsenault-Rivenburgh family could be headed to a theme park, the beach, or even visiting grandparents for the weekend. But on one particular weekend, Jessica Arsenault-Rivenburgh and her three kids are eagerly anticipating a three-day convention with a few thousand people who will come to hear exciting good news.
“Our family looks forward to our convention each summer. Nowhere else have we encountered such a friendly, welcoming, joyous atmosphere. It’s so refreshing,” said Jessica Arsenault-Rivenburgh, of Ilion, New York. “We learn things that help our family and also make memories that carry us through the year.”

In a world where bad news endlessly streams on social media, TV and radio, Jehovah’s Witnesses will present their 2024 “Declare the Good News!” convention the weekend of July 5-7, 2024. The free, three-day live event is expected to draw more than 5,000 attendees to the city over the weekend — fueling the city’s economy with local spending at stores, hotels and restaurants.
“We’re so happy to be back in Albany for our convention,” said Patrick DeBono, local spokesperson for Jehovah’s Witnesses. “Our annual conventions are a highlight of the year for us. This year’s theme will provide positive things to dwell on at a time when many people want to hear good news.”
The “Declare the Good News!” convention will present Bible-based videos, discourses and interviews on topics such as:
- Why Do We Need Good News?
- What Will You Do “for the Sake of the Good News”?
- Why We Don’t Fear Bad News.
Saturday features a baptism of candidates from surrounding communities, while a two-part video feature will captivate the audience on Friday and Saturday morning. Prior to each convention, local congregations will engage in a campaign to invite community members to this free event.
Last year, nearly 13 million people attended more than 6,000 three-day conventions worldwide.
