The hills were alive with sledding and body surfing on Thursday afternoon as anywhere between 50 and 70 kids from the youth wrestling teams showed up on Monroe Street for a team-building event.

According to Marc Verri, one of the coaches, “They work hard all season, so this is our fun thing that we’re doing.”

On Sunday, the teams are involved in a “Day on the Mats” event at the high school from 11 am until 1 pm. Verri said, “People come from all over and there should be more than 150 kids at the meet. Dolgeville, Holland Patent, Morrisville, Herkimer, Adirondack, Liverpool, Syracuse, and even Long Island.”

“We do something fun like this each year, then we have only a week of the season left after that,” said Verri.

The first hour of the event will be a clinic, then a short intermission, followed by practice with live wrestling in a non-tournament, non-competitive setting.

Little Falls Youth Wrestling has two groups, K-3 and 4-7. Approximately 35 children are involved in each of the levels.
