Main Street First and Rock City Development invite the community to celebrate The World Series of Bocce with a special film and lunch event on June 22. The film is produced by Rome natives Francis DiClemente and Bill Vinci, Lafayette Cunningham serving as cinematographer, and Mary Kasprzyk as editor.
“The World Series of Bocce: A Celebration of Sport, Family and Community” is a documentary short that captures the intense competition at the annual World Series of Bocce tournament in Rome, NY, while highlighting the event’s economic, social, and community impact. The tournament takes place this year from July 19 to 21 at the Toccolana Club in Rome, NY. For one weekend in July, teams from across the U.S. and Canada and thousands of spectators descend on Rome, New York, for the annual World Series of Bocce. Men’s and women’s teams—composed of four players per squad—compete for thousands of dollars in prize money.
It’s a tradition connecting the past with the present, a celebration of Italian American culture and an event that contributes to Rome’s economy while bolstering civic pride. The film depicts the competition of the tournament and highlights the enduring bonds of family, friendship and community. Through interviews with players, organizers and spectators, viewers are immersed in the passion and skill that define this beloved sport.
“Main Street First is excited to partner with Rock City Development to bring this unique, regionally-focused film to our independent theater,” said Rob Richard of Main Street First. “We believe community events like this are an important part of building community and supporting our local businesses.”

Guests should arrive at 11:45 a.m. Following the film at 12:45 p.m., guests are invited to enjoy lunch and meet and greet with producers of the film at The Venue at Stone Mill, located at 410 Canal Place in Little Falls.
